October - November - December - January - February - March
February 1st - 4th - LA
Sunny - I am reliving the same great day over and over again. As you can see from these pictures, its been flyable. The beach flying has been epic. Speaking of which, its time to go relive it all again. check out the view. more later...

February 5th - 15th - Paragliding
I visited my Grandmother and Uncle Agnew in Newport Beach. We went out to dinner and took a ride on the 3 car ferry.  It was nice meeting my father's brother. We had met when I was 7. We chatted into the evening and found many things in common like photography, computers and aviation.

The traffic on the I-5 was good. I didn't get lost once. Thank you MapQuest.com

Mostly sunny skies have brought me many days of flying. I flew at Lake Elsinore for the first time. What a great flight an hour flying at 800' over launch. Really great place to fly.

February 16th - Paragliding
My wing got hit by another pilot and I had a great reserve parachute deployment. I landed gently on my harness back protection uninjured. People were in awe at how well I handled the situation. I had a clear head through the whole thing. Aside from the damage caused, it was an excellent experience. The other pilot was turning downwind into my leading edge while I was ascending upwind in a thermal. In a collision, your both at fault, mine for getting myself into the crowded house thermal. The other pilot top landed fine. He was willing to split the damage.

Sunday Feb 17th - Crestline
Snow,Rain,Hail - Drove up in the mountains to visit Thermal Dynamics to get my reserve re-packed. Another educational experience. Looks like the wing will need to be sent to Superfly in Salt Lake. There was substantial damage to one cell on the leading edge. No worries though. Im at the tail end of my flying trip.

Feb 18th-23rd - LA
Sunny - Fixin to head north soon. Will visit Aaron and Betsy in Santa Cruz. Also going to check out some hot springs and beaches on the way up the CA coast. I built a web page for my friend Jason that Im staying with. And I got my wing sent off to Superfly. Hopefully Ill have it back in time for Springfest at Alyeska in April.

Lake Elsinor

Feb 24th - LA to San Luis Obispo SLO
I said good bye to my good friend Jason and his family. It was a lot of fun visiting with them. Their hospitality was just too good. I invited them all to Alaska. Another sunny day for my 200 mile drive north to visit a friend of my moms. Peggy's friend Noni. She has a nice home in the hills of SLO. She showed me around the historic town with missions and home of Cali Polytechnical where she works. I walked down gum alley. Wow imagine an alley with wall to wall gum stuck everywhere. I thought that was really creative. There was one that was huge wads of brightly colored pieces spelling "Be mine Matt". After a nice walk through downtown we got a couple burritos and went back to the house to watch the closing ceremonies.

Feb. 25th - SLO - Big Sur - Santa Cruz
Another sunny day in Cali for a great drive north on Hwy.1. I thanked Noni for her wonderful hospitality and drove north towards Big Sur. I loved how the landscape changes from smooth rolling hills to jagged peaks and forest. I stopped in Pfieffer-Burns state park and walked the forest creek trail out to the overlook view of a protected beach with a waterfall. Thanks for the tip Silk. Another stop in Big Sur for a brief hike then it was off to Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay. I stopped in to visit a pair of friends from Girdwood. Aaron and Betsy roomed with me for a while in Girdwood. It is very nice to see them again. They took me for a bike ride up the coast and to play my first round of disc-golf. They have a nice little niche here. Aaron grew up here.

Feb. 26th - March 1st - Santa Cruz
I can't seem to peel myself away from Southern California. I was expected in Seattle on the 28th. Its been sunny and hot. Wake up, hit the smoothie shop, walk the beach and listen to walrus barking, biking along the cliffs overlooking lots of surfers, and many holes of frisbee golf. Aaron and Betsy have been wonderful hosts. Ive been assisting Aaron with tricking out his Dual G4. It seems everyone I stay with is benefiting from my Mac knowledge. Its a good trade. Excellent food here. I enjoyed the Asian Rose. Im going to head north to SF tomorrow.
